Dr. Fortier is one of the co-founders of the Animal Behavior Institute. He has taught animal behavior over 20 years, specializing in training and environmental enrichment. He was the former Director of Behavioral Enrichment at the Elmwood Park Zoo and he continues to conduct enrichment research to improve the welfare of animals in captivity. Dr. Fortier has taught at several universities, including Boston University, and is an active consultant.
