Robert Gunsel
Professor Gunsel understands the vital role that service and therapy dogs in the lives of their owners. He has worked extensively with clients with a wide range of physical challenges, including those confined to a wheelchair or with limited or non-functioning limbs. In addition to mobility assistance, he has trained dogs for Diabetes Alert, Psychiatric Services and Laser-Designated Retrieval.
Dog training is only part of the equation, of course. Professor Gunsel has worked with dogs from their assessment and selection to their early socialization, desensitization and public access work. He obtains great satisfaction from working with clients and creating effective partnerships between people and their service animals. He is currently a master trainer for K9’s for Warriors, hiring, training and mentoring new service dog trainers.
