Let’s Meet Sondra!
I have worked with dogs all my life, but wanted a certification to enhance my credibility. Credentials are as important as education in my field and I wanted to demonstrate my commitment to my clients.
Where do you work?
I work at Dagny & Dexter’s Doggie Daycare and Spaw. We offer both indoor and outdoor play areas and yards. The facility is based on the concept of free roaming, supervised play. I also hold dog training classes and do one-on-one training sessions.
How did you benefit from your ABI experience?
My experience at the Animal Behavior Institute built up my confidence as well as my skills. My education allowed me to offer individual and group training classes, as well as additional work with behavioral modification. The course on Canine Health and Nutrition gave me the knowledge to expand my services and begin recommending diets to clients; many health and behavioral problems stem from dietary issues.
How did you complete your field requirement?
I completed my field requirement at a local SPCA. I notice that many of my student colleagues have also completed their field work at shelters in their area. They offer great opportunities that are easily overlooked.
Do you have any advice for potential students or current students?
Don’t ever give up! There’s always a way to get where you want to go.
Would you recommend ABI?
I always recommend the Animal Behavior Institute. The professors are amazing!
